The city says it is ready as a second snowfall of this new year begins to accumulate across the five boroughs.

The Department of Sanitation issued a snow alert starting at 7 a.m. Saturday and used salt spreaders and snow plows to clear city streets as the flakes fell.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for Brooklyn and Queens — where accumulation is expected to be highest — and a winter weather advisory in the rest of the city.

The city's Office of Emergency Management urges New Yorkers to be careful on the roads as the snow could make for slippery driving conditions.

The snowfall is expected to continue through Saturday evening and leave four to eight inches of accumulation.
