A federal prison officer has found himself on the wrong side of the law.
The U.S. Attorney's office in Brooklyn says they have arrested prison officer George Gonzalez for a plot to harm his ex-wife.
Authorities say Gonzalez who lives on Staten Island tried to hire a hitman to beat his ex-wife who now lives in Florida and her new boyfriend.
Gonzalez works at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
He was scheduled to appear Friday in Brooklyn Federal Court.
