The city is getting its first taste of snow this year.

It is expected to continue falling into the morning commute.

Snowplows and salt spreaders are prepped and working overnight to keep the roads clear.

The city will only get about one or two inches of snow, but that's still enough for the Sanitation Department to encourage New Yorkers to be safe on the roads and take precautions.

Out in Gowanaus, NY1 spoke to some New Yorkers shopping for salt and shovels who said they're not too worried about the snow.

"It's not a problem at all. I could not be less worried," said one New Yorker. "No need. It's one to two inches. That's not even over my shoes.

"Little salting, but I got to be careful for his legs, for the dog," said another. "But yeah, a little shoveling, some rainboots. Yeah, I think we're good."

A weather advisory is in effect until Friday morning, and alternate side parking is suspended.
