Several families are out of their apartments after a 3-alarm fire in Brooklyn.

The FDNY got the call to Winthrop Street near Flatbush Avenue in Prospect Lefferts Gardens just before 8 o'clock.

Nearly 150 firefighters battled the flames, which officials say broke out on the sixth floor.

We spoke with someone who says he was in the building at the time.

"I looked up and saw the smoke, I still called 911 right away, and I ran up to the sixth floor and started knocking on everybody's door," said one resident.

"I smelled so much smoke while I was inside, so I came out to see what happened," said another. "And I see all the, um, the the sixth floor, all of it is gone."

It took crews about two hours to get the fire under control.

Two people suffered minor injuries.
