NEW YORK - The storm is starting to wind down after steady downpours and high winds pounded the city overnight.

It caused some flooding in coastal areas of Queens.

Officials are urging everyone to stay alert and take the weather seriously.

Despite the conditions, one resident said his neighborhood looks better than he expected.

"It wasn't that bad. You know, we usually get a lot of flooding here. You know the streets flood up. It usually comes up to the steps. But. this morning wasn't that bad, just a lot of wind, a lot of howling. It sounded worse than it actually was," said one Broad Channel resident.

In Staten Island, a tree went into a house in the Lighthouse Hill neighborhood.

The woman living in the house was downstairs when she heard the crash.

She said her family is lucky no one was injured.

The rain is expected to taper off by tonight.
