A city firefighter is suing the department, claiming he was racially and sexually abused at his firehouse.

27-year-old Gordon Springs says he was hazed by a group of firefighters at their station near Lincoln Center.

The suit also claims his fellow firefighters abused him on multiple occasions because of his race through the spring of 2015.

His attorney says the repeated incidents should not go unpunished.

"As we allege in the complaint, if this was just one incident I would tell you now, however, what we had here were consistent comments that created a severe and pervasive work environment for my client and it was definitely due, in part, to his race," said lawyer Paul Liggieri. "This is not an indictment against the brave men and women of the fire department. This is an indictment against the individuals who perpetrated an unlawful and discriminatory act against my client."

Sources say the incident wasn't reported for several months and two officers and five firefighters were disciplined.

In a statement, the FDNY says it will continue to punish anyone who violates its anti-hazing policy.
