Museums throughout the city are opening their doors on Inauguration Day, free of charge, in an effort to highlight the importance of cultural institutions and their contributions to the national dialogue and diverse arts.

The Brooklyn Museum and the Museum of Chinese in America are waving their admission fees Friday.

The New Museum, the Rubin Museum of Art, the Museum of Arts and Design and the Whitney Museum of American Art are offering a pay-what-you-wish admission scale.

Some will also have special programming to mark the day.

The Rubin Museum says its theme for the night will be “Face Your Fears,” while the Brooklyn Museum says it is hosting a daylong reading of Langston Hughes’ poem, “Let America Be America Again.”

However, not all museums will be open on Inauguration.

The Queens Museum says it will remain closed as part of the J-20 art strike, protesting the Trump Presidency.
