WASHINGTON - Donald Trump will be sworn in as the nation's 45th president on Friday, but the list of Democratic lawmakers planning to skip the event is growing, including several New York members of congress.

Congressman Jerrold Nadler announced this morning that he is joining Nydia Velazquez, Adriano Espaillat, Yvette Clarke, and Jose Serrano in sitting out Trump's swearing-in.

Speaking with NY1 Monday morning, Nadler said he had been leaning towards skipping the inaugration because of his distaste for Trump.

He says he was finally pushed over the edge when Trump attacked Georgia Congressman and longtime civil rights leader John Lewis on Twitter.

"I make a decision between legal and legitimate. The president was legally elected, there's nothing we can do about that. He will be there for four years unless he's impeached for conduct. He will be there, he's the legal presdient. But he's not legitimate, because his election is the result partially of the Russians putting their finger on the scale, and the FBI putting their finger on the scale," Nadler said.

Congressman Lewis is also boycotting the inauguration.

He called Trump's presidency illegitimate and blamed Russia's interference in the White House race for getting Trump elected.

In the wake of those comments, Trump tweeted that Lewis was all talk and no action.

He also said Lewis should spend more time fixing his district.

Trump was expected to visit the new museum of African American History and Culture in Washington on Monday to mark Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

But Trump transition sources tell ABC News the visit was canceled because of "scheduling issues."

NY1 will have live coverage of the inauguration of Donald Trump.

Our reports from the National Mall in Washington start at 6 a.m. Friday.

At 10:30 a.m., Roma Torre and political anchor Errol Louis will host a pre-inauguration special.

The president-elect will be sworn in by Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts at noon.
