Days after the helicopter Governor Cuomo was riding in was forced to make an emergency landing, the state approves a plan to get him a new one.

After rejecting a proposal for a new aircraft last year, Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli's office signed off on a request from state police to buy a $12.5 million helicopter.

The reversal came after Cuomo's office gave more details on what it will be used for.

It will transport the governor and help police on the ground and in search and rescue missions.

Wednesday, a helicopter taking Cuomo from Albany to the city made an emergency landing at Stewart Airport after fumes filled the cabin.

No one was hurt.
