NEW YORK - It's hard to believe, but there are no statues of women in Central Park, and one local Girl Scout troop is looking to change that.

Troop 3484 from Manhattan would like to see statues of both Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton in the park, pioneers in the women's suffrage movement.

The Scouts plan to donate $1,920 from their cookie sales - symbolic of the year the 19th Amendment granted American women the right to vote.

"Susan B. Anthony she got jailed and we have to honor her legacy and just keep fighting," said one Girl Scout.

"There's been a lot of great females in our history and none of them get recognize  or honored with a statue in Central Park and like a lot of women do more important stuff then the males here, well some of them," said another Girl Scout.

The city is on board with the plan.

The goal is to ultimately raise $1.5 million for the endowment.

So far, $150,000 has been raised by groups.
