A 53-year-old man was struck and killed in a hit-and-run in Queens just a few hours into the new year, according to the city police department.

Police said the man was struck around 2:34 a.m. as he tried to cross South Conduit Ave. near Rockaway Boulevard in Springfield Gardens.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the police report.

Authorities said they are looking for a black 2007 Lexus sedan.

They said that after striking the man, the driver hit a guardrail before fleeing the scene.

Authorities are investigating. Police said they are speaking to people living in the area, and will review surveillance video.

Officials have not yet released the victim's name.
