In the face of a lawsuit, Mayor Bill de Blasio is making changes to the city's Municipal ID card program.

City Hall says that going forward it will no longer hold on to applications from people who apply for IDNYC cards.

So far more than half a million cards have been issued.

They are available to any and all city residents — regardless of immigration status.

Two Republican Staten Island lawmakers have filed a lawsuit trying to block the city from potentially destroying its ID records.

A state appellate court has ruled to keep a temporary restraining order in effect.

That prevents the city from destroying any documents until at least their next court date on December 21st.
