A beloved bookstore in Brooklyn is writing its final chapter.

Book Court on Court Street between Dean and Pacific Streets in Cobble Hill is set to close after 35 years in business.

The owners say they're shutting down the shop because they're ready to retire.

Neighborhood residents say they're sad to see the store go.

"I've been coming here for over 10 years, it's the place I go on my home from work to pick something up for a gift or — it's always the place I go to look for a book, I prefer not to buy online if I can buy here, so it's shocking," said one loyal customer.

"It's definitely gonna leave a hole, that's for sure," said another.

"It's something that's been here for so long, it's so much part of the community," said a third.

Book Court will close its doors for good on December 31.
