The death toll from the warehouse fire in Oakland, California has risen to 30.

Many others are still unaccounted for, and that reportedly includes Brooklyn-based filmmaker Alex Ghassan. He's believed to have been in the crowd of 50 to 100 people attending a party inside the two-story building when flames broke out Friday night.

No word yet on whether Ghassan is one of the 30 who died.

Officials say the fire caused the roof to collapse onto the second floor where the party was being held. A survivor describes how he got out.

"I busted through my door and it was all this like black smoke and I was like couldn't breathe and I was like with my phone and the the lights went out.  Dropped my phone and I had to like scream and get to the front."

Officials say the warehouse was illegally converted into an artist studio, and had been under investigation since last month.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.
