The 60th annual Toys for Tots campaign is underway, and New Yorkers are doing their part to brighten the holidays for kids in need.

Many dropped off new, unwrapped toys to Sojourn Restaurant on the Upper East Side.

That's just one of the hundreds of donation sites citywide.

U.S. Marines will collect the toys and deliver them to needy children.

The owner of the restaurant tells us why he got involved.

"When I was very young, I came from a poor family," said Sammy Musovic. "So I actually got a toy from Toys for Tots many years ago. It was a basketball and it made me really happy."

"We believe every child deserves that joy of the holiday to be able to get a present," said Staff Sgt. J.D. Quinton.

"I think the Marines are putting in a lot of time and effort in to helping children and this is a small way that I can support that," said Gerard Rem, who donated a toy.
