Isaac Duran Infante stood in front of a judge Wednesday to answer murder charges in the deaths of his ex-girlfriend and young son. An interpreter beside him as prosecutors describe what police say happened in the victim's Hamilton Heights apartment.

"He admitted to us that he went there to end the life of Felicia and then decided to end his son's life as well," said NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce.

Both 36-year-old Felicia Barahona and her four-year-old son Miguel were found dead on Monday. Police say Infante drove from his home in Pennsylvania to New York last Thursday.

Once he got to Barahona's home — he allegedly strangled her to death with an electrical cord and then turned on his little boy — finding him in the bathroom crying and asking for his mother.

That's when investigators say Infante strangled the little boy and placed him in the bathtub. Officials say Infante was unhappy with how their son was being raised.

"She did dress the child in girls' clothing and that he felt that antagonized him and that was part of the motive," said Chief of Detectives Boyce.

Barahona lost her teaching job at Dewitt Clinton High School in the Bronx in 2012 after administrators found out she had sexual relationship with Infante — a teenage student there at the time. Now he faces the possibility of life in prison.

"He was crying that's all I can tell you, he felt terrible and he was crying," said Legal Aid Defense Attorney Allen Farbman.

Infante's court appointed defense attorney only met his client shortly before the arraignment — saying Infante's legal representation will hear him out despite what many consider heinous charges.

"When you hear about something like this as a human being of course you're going to be sad, obviously it's going to affect you but I'm in there as his attorney, trying to protect his rights and defend him," Farbman said.

Police say Barahona and Infante also had money disagreements, and that he came here with the intention of killing her, but decided to kill his son as well once he got inside the apartment.
