The family of an 8-year-old boy critically injured at his Queens school last week is now demanding answers.

Daniel Martinez's father says the boy is still in the hospital in a medically-induced coma.

The third-grader suffered a skull fracture and a brain hemorrrhage following an incident last Wednesday at PS 253 in Far Rockaway.

Sources say school staff told the parents the boy was hurt in gym class, but Martinez suspects his son was the victim of bullying.

"I blame the principal and the teacher, because they should've been there," Martinez said. "Their obligation is to protect the children, we are not blaming the kids, but the school, because they should be held accountable for whatever happens there. If something like that would've happened at our home, we would be in custody right now."

Sources tell NY1 the school followed protocol and called 9-1-1 immediately.

In a statement, the Department of Education called the incident troubling and says it's conducting an investigation.
