Police are searching for a gunman after a bullet shot through a classroom window in Brooklyn.

It happened Tuesday morning around 11:30, at South Shore High School on Flatlands Avenue near East 76th Street in Canarsie.

Police say an unidentified man got into an argument with two other men across the street.

They say four shots were fired, and one round went through a fourth floor window and became lodged in a blackboard.

Investigators say it does not appear the school was the intended target.

We spoke to students about the incident.

"What happened was they had a argument by Glenwood right there, and people started shooting outside and one of the bullets flew into one of the buildings into, into one of the classrooms in the fourth floor and they had to shut down the whole school.," said one.

"I was scared, I was like a shocked at it because it doesn't happen often and like I didn't know how to react because like it was the first time it happened while me being here," said another.

The Department of Education says 17 students were in the classroom, but none were injured.

No arrests have been made.
