A fire in the Bronx leaves six families without a home.

Flames broke out at this two story home on Briggs Avenue near East 198th Street just after 11 a.m.

More than 150 firefighters responded to the scene.

The fire broke out on the second floor.

"The fire was mostly confined to the concealed spaces in the walls and in the ceiling," said FDNY Deputy Assistant Chief Joseph Woznica. "As the fire got hot enough, it burnt itself through so that's when it flashed over and created the heavy fire conditions coming through the windows."

Eight people, including seven firefighters received minor injuries.

There's no word yet on what caused the fire.

The Red Cross is assisting families who were affected.
