Jackson Heights residents are coming together in response to alleged hate crimes around the borough.

Chhaya CDC held a post-election Town Hall Saturday to discuss attacks against minorities in Queens since the election.

The group advocates for immigrant communities in Jackson Heights.

People got to voice their concerns and hear from experts about what to do if they feel attacked.

Participants said that since Jackson Heights is home to so many people of different cultures, it was their job to pave the way for tolerance.

"It's clear that as a community we need to come together. We need to stand together as a diverse community," Annetta Seecharran Executive Director of Chhaya CDC, said.

"Now we're at the front lines of making sure that New York City, New York State, um, is a city and a state that becomes that sanctuary zone for immigration, for immigrants," Queens Senator Jose Peralta, said.
