NEW YORK - When you wish upon a wall it will help make New Year's Eve that much better.

Times Square's annual Wishing Wall is up and ready to collect your hopes and dreams for next year.

Participants write down their wishes for 2017 on pieces of paper and hang them up.

Then on New Year's Eve, they become part of the confetti dropped on revelers at midnight.

Organizers say the exercise will be particularly cathartic this go-around.

"After a divisive year the world comes together for a global celebration. Over a billion people watch worldwide, and you know looking back over the last year, where we've been, what we want to forget, what we want to remember, they celebrate the great things in life with the people they love and they look forward with a sense of hope and renewal, and maybe things'll change for them personally or for the world," said Times Square Alliance President Tim Tompkins.

The wishing wall will be on one of Times Square's Broadway Plazas every day until the 29th.

If you can't make it in person, you can submit your wishes online at timessquarenyc.org or use the hashtag #ConfettiWish on social media.
