NEW YORK - President-elect Donald Trump's home on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan is now in many ways a transitional White House.

"I'm glad it happened. I'm happy for President Trump," noted one New Yorker.

After Trump’s stunning upset of Hillary Clinton, a larger-than-normal number of tourists and New Yorkers stopped outside his home to gawk.

"Are they going to change the name to President Trump Tower?" asked one passerby.

Security outside the skyscraper is now tighter than ever before. A large number of NYPD officers have been assigned to protect the president-elect. Additionally, dozens of city sanitation trucks filled with sand now form a barricade in front of Trump Tower to prevent a vehicle with explosives from driving into the building.

"The sanitation trucks, I wish they can put something else there instead," said one New Yorker.

Across the street Wednesday, Clinton and Trump supporters debated the election results.

Trump supporters said they always knew he would win.

"He's a businessman, not a politician. I think people want someone who doesn't just feeds them lies and a script. He's off-script," said one supporter.

Some Clinton supporters are refusing to accept Trump as president.

"His racism, his bigotry, his racism against everyone, the women rights, the list can go on and on," said one Clinton supporter.

One thing they can agree on is Fifth Avenue will never be the same again.

NYPD officers pointed out this will be the new norm outside Trump Tower at least until the inauguration.
