A woman is dead after being shot in the back in Brooklyn.

Police responded to a call of a shooting outside the Pink Houses in East New York just after midnight Wednesday.

When they arrived, they found 27-year-old Salaya Figueroa with a gunshot wound to her back.

Investigators say she was standing outside with a group of friends when shots broke out.

No one else was hit.

Family members say she leaves behind three children.

"You've got Christmas coming up, New Year's, and now they're going to have no mother because some coward want to shoot her in the back," said Tyeisha Kelly, the victim's cousin. "She didn't deserve to go out like this."

"We want to know who did this. We want to know what was the reason that they did this," said Nacomi Figueroa, the victim's aunt. "She was a very good helping hands person. She gave away food, clothes if all the girls needed it. We do the same thing. She’s a very good spirit."

Police say there are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
