A new report shows more and more Staten Islanders are seeking out food pantries.
The report from Hunger Free America found 75% of the borough's food pantries and soup kitchens, who responded to the non profit's survey, have more people coming through their doors this year.
Since the recession, the number of Staten Islanders living below the poverty line has increased by 63%.
"America can't be great so long as 42 million of its citizens and 13 million American children don't have enough food," said Hunger Free America CEO Joel Berg.
"Everybody needs a hand now and then. Today me. Tomorrow it might be you. And, you know, hunger don't, don't discriminate," said New Brighton Resident Barbara Hart.
