Mayor Bill de Blasio is maintaining his stance that the city will not cooperate with any federal orders to create a registry of Muslims under the Trump administration.

At a town hall meeting in the Bronx Monday night, the mayor echoed similar remarks he made in a speech at Cooper Union earlier in the day.

He said he would make every effort to fight attempts to register New Yorkers based on their religion.

"Any registration by religion, any attempt to deport people on a religious basis, we're going to challenge that legally. We're gonna work with other people around the country to challenge that. This is not part of America, to separate people based on their religion, we won't stand for that," De Blasio said.

The mayor also touched on the 2012 police shooting death of Ramarley Graham, which happened just blocks from the site of the town hall.

He promised that the departmental trial of Officer Richard Haste will take place within the next few months.
