The Trump name will be removed from three Upper West Side buildings, according to the company that owns the buildings.
Equity Residential says the name of the buildings at 140, 160 and 180 Riverside Boulevard will be changed so that the buildings can take on "a more neutral building identity that will appeal to all current and future residents."
The company says the input of residents was one of many factors that played into the decision. Residents had circulated a petition calling for the Trump name to be removed.
"Why should he get part of my rent, and why should he have his name on there, when he's leaving such a bad taste in everybody?" Marjorie Jacobs, a Trump Place resident, told NY1 in October.
Donald Trump initially developed the property, but Equity Residential now owns the buildings and was licensing Trump's name.
Residents previously told NY1 that new door mats and doorman uniforms that omit the Trump connection already have been ordered.
