The City University of New York (CUNY) is giving its graduates an opportunity to learn to code for free.

Queens College is home to the first 12-week coding boot camp only for CUNY graduates. CUNY partnered with technology company Revature to teach the class.

Students will learn the skills necessary to build software, mobile applications, and websites. Not only will they walk away from the course with the skillset, but also help with job placement.

“You get the fundamentals in college, but a program like this gives you a vast amount of experience that you can't get in college,” said student Kyle Chang Fatt.

“Companies are really looking for homegrown talent here in the U.S. that can take these jobs locally, and innovate in these large companies,” said Joe Mitchell, Executive Vice President of University Partnerships at Revature.

The next boot camp will be offered at CUNY’s School of Professional Studies in Manhattan.
