Staten Island residents gather to remember loved ones who died during Hurricane Sandy.

Family and friends held the annual 'Light the Shore' vigil in Midland Beach Saturday to mark four years since storm hit the borough and killed two-dozen people.

People lit candles, held a moment of silence and read the names of those who died.

Organizers say the event highlights the Island’s on-going recovery efforts.

"The impact is that we are still recovering," said Cassandra Missall, Director of the Staten Island Long Term Recovery Organization. "That there are many families who have not been able to complete the recovery road and that we are here to support them.

"That we are not going anywhere. They can reach out to us at any time if they need a helping hand with any of their recovery efforts."

This is the fourth year the event has been held.
