An investigation is underway after a teenager was stabbed in front of his Brooklyn high school. 

It happened outside of W.H. Maxwell Career and Technical Education High School on Pennsylvania and Liberty avenues in East New York Thursday afternoon. 

Police say a 17-year old student was stabbed in the torso. 

He was taken to Kings County Hospital and is expected to be OK. 

It is not clear what led up to the incident. 

Sources tell NY1 the Department of Education is working closely with the NYPD on the investigation and will provide the school with support.
