Police are on the lookout for a man they say tried to rape a woman in the Bronx. 

It happened just before 2 a.m. Tuesday on Watson Avenue in Soundview. 

Investigators say a 29-year old woman was walking into her home when a man grabbed her from behind and put her in a chokehold. 

They say he then hit her in the face and tried to sexually assault her.

She fought him off and he ran away, according to investigators. 

The victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition. 

The attacker is described as 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 150 pounds with brown hair. 

He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a gray t-shirt.
