Some Housing Authority residents are speaking out about the city's plans to put new market-rate apartments on public housing property.

Protesters took to the steps of City Hall Thursday to demand the mayor release details on NYCHA's "Infill" program.

"Infill" adds buildings with a 50/50 split between market rate and affordable housing units to underutilized NYCHA land.

Demonstrators say they have a right to know where the earmarked spaces are and what the city has planned for them.

"We are not being given our basic rights, we are not getting the communication needed to give understanding," said NYCHA Frederick Douglass Houses Tenants Association President Carmen Quinones.

The mayor is trying to force a plan down our throats through divide and conquer," said NYCHA Washington Houses Resident Association Board Member Claudia Perez.

We are trying to protect our homes, and our children's playgrounds, which NYCHA is trying to take away from us," said Glendora Israel, a NYCHA tenant.

In a statement, NYCHA says it will not privatize public housing or displace residents.
