Three men face a variety of charges in connection with an early morning shooting in Manhattan.

Police say plainclothes officers were on patrol in their unmarked vehicle shortly before 1 a.m., when they heard gunshots on 22nd Street near 6th Avenue in the Flatiron District.

The officers saw a man get into a waiting Mercedes-Benz and take off.

Investigators say the officers pursued the car for several blocks, until it made a sudden stop on 19th Street.

38 year-old Ramel Harkless, 43 year-old Joseph Saunders, 46 year-old Barry Wiles were all taken into custody without incident.

Investigators say a gun was found in the car.

Police later found the man who had been the shooter's target on 22nd Street with six gunshot wounds

He was taken to the hopsital and is in critical condition.

Harkless, Saunders and Wiles all face multiple charges, including assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
