NEW YORK - It's batter up to the auction block in Manhattan as a collection of prized baseball memorabilia is ready for sale.

More than 400 items are up for grabs, including baseballs signed by legends like Babe Ruth and Jackie Robinson, and a bat once swung by Micky Mantle.

There are also items associated with more recent big names like Derek Jeter.

Some pieces are expected to draw up to $700,000.

"It's really remarkable, the amount of quality material. Like a Mantle bat, like that, we have Shoeless Joe Jackson's bat, Babe Ruth's bat, it goes on and on and on. And what's wonderful is it's all on exhibition for free, anybody can come see it. That's very exciting," said Christie's Pop Culture Specialist and Appraiser Simeon Lipman.

Even if you can't afford to place a bid, you can still get an up close look at baseball history.

The items are on display through October 18, leading up to the auction itself on October 19 and 20.
