Now you can enjoy the beauty of Japan much closer to home.

The New York Botanical Garden has just opened its new Japanese garden.

The stars of the exhibit are the chrysanthemums - Japan's most celebrated fall-blooming flower.

The plants have been meticulously cared for over the past several months.

There's also a bonsai tree display.

The exhibit's part of a series of special events at the garden to celebrate Japanese culture.

"Taiko drumming, we have samurai sword presentations, we'll do some calligraphy and manga drawing," said NYBG Director of Public Education Gayle Scmidt.

"We've been working with the Shinjuku Go An Garden in Tokyo for several years, and we've brought gardeners back and forth. Every year we try something a little bit new and fancy," aid NYBG Associate Vice President for Exhibitions and Public Engagement Karen Daubmann.
