BROOKLYN, N.Y. - After months of waiting, dogs and their owners can once again beat the heat in Brooklyn's Prospect Park.

The park has reopened its dog beach for canines of all breeds to come and enjoy.

The Dog Beach is making its debut after two months of renovations, completed several months ahead of schedule.

The revamping includes replacing the beach's pavement with stone slabs, replacing an underwater that separates dogs from other wildlife, and removing invasive plants.

"It's greatly appreciated, I'll say that. They did a great job," said one dog owner.

"Everybody that was expecting it to be done next spring, next summer is really psyched, because it was hot, and this little one wanted to come everyday," noted another dog owner.

The park's rules about off-leash hours apply to the beach.

They're everyday from to 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m.
