NEW YORK - The FDNY is getting tech-savvy, adding a new tool to its firefighting arsenal.

In the coming weeks, the fire department will begin using a drone in order to assess emergencies.

The aerial images will help commanders decide how to best respond to a fire.

The unmanned aircraft will be used at two-alarm blazes and more serious fires.

Each one costs $85,000.

Two additional drones are expected to be implemented by the end of the year.
