The MTA's email and text alert system is getting more user friendly thanks to a big upgrade.

One of the new features allows riders to customize their alerts based on their schedule.

You can set the exact days and times when you get service alerts.

So if you only ride the subway Monday to Friday, or only ride the bus between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. in the morning, you don't have to get alerts when they don't affect you.

The upgrade also fixes the text message feature so texts don't get cut off on your phone.

You can also add an unlimited number of subscriptions to the service once you set up a primary account.
