One of NY1's own is honored in Queens.
Queens borough reporter Ruschell Boone was recognized Sunday by Richmond Hill's Sikh community.
She was given an award for providing insight into their culture, after members of the community say they felt targeted following the September 11th attacks.
"I'm so honored that so many people are here for this and to witness this and to appreciate what we do here at NY1," Boone said. "We cover every ethnic group here in the city and we try to cover them truthfully and honestly and give a good representation of who they are. And for me to get this honor today is pretty tremendous."
Sikh community members also gathered for Punjab Day celebrations.
