The state’s health department this week announced plans to offer home delivery for their Medical Marijuana Program.

The agency said the changes will improve access for patients, and they hope to have the service running in the next couple of weeks.

Other recommendations from the department of health include allowing nurse practitioners to certify qualified patients in addition to physicians.

Officials are also considering expanding eligible conditions to include chronic pain.

Current conditions include cancer, AIDS and epilepsy.

The health commissioner says since the program launched in January, more than 7,000 patients have been approved for using the drug.
