New York Sen. Charles Schumer calls for a federal investigation following last weekend's false alarm of shots fired at Kennedy Airport.

More than 200 officers swarmed JFK Airport last Sunday night after authorities received several calls about shots being fired inside a terminal.

Passengers were evacuated and flights were grounded, but it turned out to be a false alarm.

A loud celebration that followed Usain Bolt's Olympic victory may have been one possible source of the noise that prompted the report of shots fired.

Schumer said he wants the Department of Homeland Security review to focus on several areas, including training for officers, agency coordination, and improving communication during a potential crisis.

Schumer said the scare raises concerns about the preparedness of airport security.

"To have a real panic occur at one of our major airports, in terminal after terminal, without anyone being injured, and to learn from it is something that's really important," he said.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced last week that there would be a multi-agency review of the incident.
