Officials in Massachusetts say the New York City resident found dead last weekend was likely attacked by a man.

Investigators say they're looking to identify whoever attacked 27-year-old Vanessa Marcotte Sunday afternoon near Boston.

Investigators are asking anyone who noticed a vehicle on the road or parked in the area to notify police.

Marcotte was visiting family when she went out for a walk. A police canine unit later found her body about a half mile from her mother's home.

Officials say there was a struggle between Marcotte and her killer that may have left him injured.

"Evidence and information that we have in this case again leads us to believe that there was a struggle between Vanessa and her assailant that led to scratches, cuts, scrapes and/or bruises," said Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early Jr. "Anyone who's observed a male with these types of injuries, we would ask that you contact the Massachusetts State Police tipline."

Marcotte worked as an account manager for Google.
