Muggles around the world geared up for a return to the Wizarding World on Saturday night.

Saturday night's midnight release of "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" was the first in the franchise since the last book in the series, 2007's "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows."

The "Cursed Child" is a two-part stage play, and the story picks up 19 years after the novels end.

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling did not write the play, but has received a "Story By" credit.

Bookstores around the city are slated to celebrate the new release Saturday night.

Barnes and Noble locations in Park Slope, Union Square, and TriBeCa are scheduled to have Potter parties starting at 8 p.m.

The Strand Bookstore near Union Square is set to host one at the same time.

In Queens, the Astoria Bookshop off of 31st Avenue and 31st Street kicks off at 10 p.m.

Meanwhile, in Williamsburg, the Villain bookstore at Kent Avenue and North 3rd Street is appealing to adult fans with Harry Potter-themed drinks. That also starts at 10 p.m.

Other shops in the five boroughs are having their own bashes, so check your local bookstores.

The play opened Saturday in London, and tickets are already nearly sold out through the end of next year.
