The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory until 7 p.m. Saturday for Manhattan, The Bronx, Staten Island, and Brooklyn.

Temperatures are expected to reach as high as 96 degrees Saturday for what could be the hottest day of the year so far.

The city is reminding New Yorkers to stay cool during this weekend heat wave.

People are urged to stay out of the heat as much as possible, to stay hydrated, and check on the elderly.

Those with chronic health conditions are being asked limit outside activity.

Cooling centers are open Saturday to provide air-conditioned spaces for those in need.

Cooling centers include libraries, senior centers, and Housing Authority facilities.

Sprinkler caps for fire hydrants are also available.

You can get one at your local firehouse as long as you are at least 18 years old and show ID.
