If you are looking to escape the concrete jungle, look no further than Staten Island's High Rock Park.

The park offers plenty of shade to cool off on these hot days, and city parks department officials say it is one of the most tranquil places in the city.

It is part of the Greenbelt on Staten Island, which offers New Yorkers 2,800 acres of greenery to explore.

"We get people from all over the five boroughs that come hiking here. We even get visitors from other countries that come and hike the trails here," said Dr. Maritza Cuevas of NYC Parks Greenbelt. "With 35 miles of trails, there's a lot to see."

"This is great. You can get all the hiking you want," said Steven Cain, the Greenbelt administrator. "You can walk for miles without having to cross a road, which is a very unique thing in New York City."

But the park has more than just hiking. The city parks department also offers several programs for people of all ages, including musical performances and a summer camp for kids.
