The off-duty police officer involved in an apparent road rage incident last week in Brooklyn has been placed on modified duty.

It comes as new surveillance video shows the incident, in which the off-duty police officer shot and killed a man on the Fourth of July.

The video shows 37-year-old Delrawn Small approaching the officer's car and getting shot as soon as he reaches the driver-side window.

It seems to contradict inital reports that Small was punching the car and then the officer through the window.

The officer, who sources identify as 37-year-old Wayne Isaacs, is then seen getting out of his car, walking toward Small, then returning to his car.

Police Commissioner William Bratton says he has been stripped of his gun and badge after an investigation by the NYPD's excessive force unit, but the investigation is still in its preliminary stages.

"We haven't talked to the officer yet at the request of the attorney general," Bratton said in an interview on Inside City Hall. "We were waiting to basically look at the videos, which we looked at on Friday. We're still looking for additional videos. We've looked at every camera along all seven blocks of that incident and not talked to the officer. The officer did receive injuries."

Investigators say Small was not armed, and had two children and his girlfriend in the car at the time of the shooting.
