Following news today that John Kasich is reportedly dropping out of the race for the White House, Donald Trump has all but formally secured the Republican presidential nomination, setting up the potential for an all New York contest should Hillary Clinton become her party's nominee.

Sources tell the Associated Press the Ohio governor will suspend his campaign Wednsday.

He was trailing Trump by nearly 900 delegates.

Trump's main rival Ted Cruz announced he was suspending his campaign Tuesday night after getting trounced in Indiana.

The Manhattan billionaire and Queens native beat Cruz by nearly 20 percentage points.

Despite conceding the race, Cruz sounded an optimistic tone.

"There is no substitute for the America that each and every one of us loves with all of our heart, that we believe in with all of our heart, and that together we will restore as a shining city on the hill for every generation to come," Cruz said.

Trump's win gives him more than a thousand delegates.

He is now less than 200 delegates away from clinching the GOP nomination before the party's convention in July.

"I didn't expect this. I didn't expect it, and what Ted did is really a brave thing to do and a great thing to do 'cause we want to bring unity to the Republican party," Trump said.

GOP officials are now trying to rally the party around Trump.

Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus sent out a tweet last night saying, "Donald Trump will be the presumptive @GOP nominee, we all need to unite and focus on defeating Hillary  Clinton."
