The Red Cross says it's helping 12 households after a two-alarm fire in Harlem.

Fire officials say they were called to the fire at around 6:30 a.m. Monday on West 145th Street near Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard.

Flames were knocked down in about an hour, leaving behind a charred storefront and apartments.

The Red Cross says it's helping 39 adults and 17 kids who lived in those apartments.

Five people were treated for minor injuries, including four firefighters.

One person suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
