As the investigation into last weekend's fire at a Manhattan church continues, officials are looking into whether candles may be to blame.

Flames broke out just before 7 p.m. Sunday at the Serbian Orthodox Cathedral of Saint Sava on West 25th Street near Broadway.

Parishioners were celebrating Serbian Orthodox Easter with a church service and lunch just hours before the fire.

Fire officials say a caretaker placed candles in a cardboard box after blowing them out.

Four firefighters suffered minor injuries.

The church formerly known as the Trinity Chapel Complex was designed and constructed in the 1850's.

The building was designated a city landmark in 1968.
