A man is facing charges after police say he stole a painting from a Manhattan church.

Washington Dominguez, 64, was charged with grand larceny.

Police say Dominguez entered the St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in Washington Heights on May 8. They say he took off his jacket and wrapped it around a painting of St. Spyridon, tucked it under his arm and walked out.

Church officials say the painting is worth $5,000.

Dominguez is due back in court on Friday.
