A Brooklyn man was sentenced to up to 15 years in prison Monday for a car crash that left a 12-year-old girl dead.
28-year-old Robert DeCarlo pled guilty to second-degree manslaughter charges in connection with the 2014 accident.
The Brooklyn DA's office says DeCarlo was speeding over 50 miles-per-hour in a stolen van when he fatally struck 12-year-old Joie Sellers.
It happened near Flatlands and Schenectady Avenues.
Prosecutors say he lost control of the car, went onto the sidewalk and hit the girl.
He also struck and injured her 9-year-old sister Charli and 38-year-old mother Marcia Landais, who were left seriously injured.
Landais spoke exclusively with NY1 about the sentencing.
"I don't feel like justice has been served but I understand the system," Landais said. "I'm grateful that he did decide to take the plea deal. Probably he deserves more. My belief is that he'll come out and probably hurt another family or hurt himself, you know. But like I said, that's not for me to decide."
Officials say DeCarlo fled the scene of the accident and surrendered the following day.
They say he also pled guilty to two counts of second-degree assault and robbery from a separate incident in 2014.
